Adeladius Makwega – President’s Office, Department of Records and Archives Management, Dodoma.
On the morning of October 22, 2026, Mwanakwetu visited the Records Management Department at the President’s Office, Department of Records and Archives, in Dodoma.
During his visit, Mwanakwetu received a warm welcome from Ms. Adolphina Mapala, a Records Officer in the department. Ms. Mapala is of the Fipa ethnic group and hails from Katumba Ward, Sumbawanga, in Rukwa Region.
During their conversation, Ms. Mapala showed Mwanakwetu a historical document dating back to around the period leading up to Tanganyika’s independence.
The document was a script for a feature produced by the Tanganyika Broadcasting Corporation (TBC) and broadcast on September 10, 1961. The feature focused on the history of the Mvumi area, which is now located in Dodoma Region.
The discovery and preservation of such documents are essential to deepening our understanding of the history of different areas across the country. Through old records, present and future generations can learn about the lives, environments, and events that have shaped our communities.
Indeed, old records are a treasure trove of knowledge. When properly preserved, they serve as a bridge connecting yesterday’s generation with today’s and tomorrow’s.
Mwanakwetu, are you there? Remember.
“An Old TBC Document.”
Wishing you a wonderful day.
