Adeladius Makwega Tarime Mara TANZANIA
It was the morning of June 22, 2026, when the Mara Regional Political Committee, led by Comrade Patrick Chandi, the CCM Regional Chairman for Mara, arrived in Tarime District to inspect several development projects. This district is rich in gold mineral resources.
During the visit, they were welcomed by a row of 35 shops built at a cost of 395 million Tanzanian shillings under the supervision of the Tarime Town Council.
“This is excellent work. I sincerely congratulate you for the great effort you have put in, from the conception to the completion of this project. CCM is very pleased with this project—well done,” said Comrade Chandi.
These remarks were made in the presence of the Acting Regional Administrative Secretary of Mara, Dr. Zabroni Masatu, and the Tarime District Commissioner, Major Edward Gowele.
Afterward, the visit continued with the inspection of three more projects within the district. Two of these projects were similar: administrative buildings for two secondary schools, including Mjini Kati Secondary School. The building was constructed through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds from the North Mara Mine at a cost of 172 million Tanzanian shillings.
After receiving a report on the project, Comrade Chandi inspected it and stated:
“This project is good and reflects the standards of CCM and my position as the CCM Regional Chairman. Congratulations to village chairpersons, councilors, leaders, and all citizens of this district.”
During the visit, it was discovered that Mjini Kati Secondary School had no electricity. Immediately, the CCM Mara Region issued the following directive:
“I give thirty days from today for electricity to be connected to this school.”
Another similar project is the administrative building at Matongo Secondary School, also being constructed using CSR funds from the North Mara Mine at a cost of 172 million Tanzanian shillings. CCM was impressed and extended further commendations.
The most remarkable part of the visit was the inspection of a 41.5-meter-long bridge connecting two communities that had been long-time rivals—Wanyabasi and Wanyamongo.
History indicates that these communities were separated by the Tigite River, with no social relations such as intermarriage or crossing from one side to the other.
Now, the Tigite River bridge has been constructed by TARURA, fostering unity and brotherhood. Previously, those who crossed secretly used ropes, a practice that fueled hostility and discouraged unity.
“This bridge has been constructed and supervised by TARURA at a cost of 400 million Tanzanian shillings. I believe that Wanyamongo and Wanyabasi will now intermarry, farm together, herd livestock together, and live in peace,” said Comrade Chandi, as he was cheered by citizens gathered at a nearby marketplace.
