Adeladius Makwega – Arusha
In the previous text, I revisited my basket of questions and comments, and honestly, I was unable to finish all of them. Today, I continue to present them to you, my reader, little by little.
In this text, I kindly ask for your attention, dear reader, so that I may begin with my second gift to those who observed the Ramadan fast—a verse from this special Ramadan poem:
Give yourself to providing iftar,
Take it to the mosque,
So that the poor may eat,
Together with the needy,
Or if someone has come from a journey,
Feed that guest,
Ramadan has arrived,
O Lord, forgive our sins.
Remember, when these articles were first published, it was during the Ramadan fasting period for Muslims.
In Text Number XVIII (18), I mentioned Dr. Edmund Eliezer Ndalama. Shortly after that text was released, I received a message from Mr. Philemon Ferix informing me that Dr. Ndalama is an orthopedic specialist at MOI. There are two leading experts involved with the Sign Nail procedure there, and he (Dr. Ndalama) is one of them.
These are former Tambaza students—specialist doctors now working at Muhimbili. Therefore, my reader, Tambaza students were very dedicated to their studies, which is why today these specialists are recognized. The names you encounter in these writings belong to experts in various fields who studied at this historic school.
Antony Kombo was also a Tambaza student with strong academic talent, much like Abdil Rashidi. At that time, Tambaza School was under the leadership of the headmaster known as Mr. Kalumuna.
Since Kombo had been performing well from his very first year at Tambaza, on his graduation day, the Ilala District Commissioner at the time, Mr. David Mlangwa, congratulated him and presented him with an academic award.
A photo of that event was published in the Daily News newspaper—back when Daily News truly lived up to its name. That photo accompanies this article.
Antony Kombo lived in Block 41 near DAWASA, behind the UWT hostel, which later became Gogo Hotel, and is now the location of Airtel. I am told that Antony Kombo currently lives in the United States, continuing his life abroad.
Tambaza also had other academic standouts, such as Benedict Ndomba, who is now the Chief Executive of Tanzania’s e-Government Authority. I will share more about his time as a Tambaza student in future texts.
What comes next? Stay tuned for the next installment.
Remember, this is Part XX of The Azania–Tambaza Conflict.
Wishing you a good day.
