Adeladius Makwega – Mbagala
Early on May 14, 2026, Mwanakwetu visited the Mara Regional Education Office to learn about the state of education in the region.
He was received by several officials from this public office located along Lake Victoria. The region is led by Regional Commissioner Colonel Evans Alfred Mtambi, and the Regional Administrative Secretary is Mr. Gerald Musabila Kusaya.
Speaking about the state of education in the region, the Regional Education Officer, Dr. Elpidius Baganda, said that the academic situation is currently good, with candidates continuing to sit for various national examinations in different areas.
Dr. Baganda added:
“From May 4 to 22, 2026, the examination schedule is underway, including Form Six exams and teachers’ college exams. Our region has 33 schools with Form Six classes, and 4,767 students are sitting for exams across 152 streams. Additionally, there are three teachers’ colleges with 22 streams and 723 candidates.”
Analyzing these statistics, the Mara Regional Academic Officer, Mr. Ayubu Mbilinyi, stated that the number of students enrolling in Form Five and completing Form Six in Mara Region has been increasing every year:
“In 2023, we had 3,076 candidates; in 2024, 3,035; and in 2025, 3,317.”
Mr. Mbilinyi explained that public Form Five and Six schools in Tanzania admit students from across the country regardless of their region of origin. However:
“In Mara Region, 70% of students studying Form Five and Six in public schools come from the Lake Zone, while 30% come from other regions of Tanzania.”
After learning this, Mwanakwetu decided to write this article.
While this was taking place at the Mara Regional office, service delivery at the Regional Commissioner’s Office continued smoothly. Citizens were receiving services, and staff were actively working.
As for the weather in Musoma town: the temperature is 27°C, humidity is 30%, chance of rain is 63%, and wind is blowing at 6 km/h.
Mwanakwetu, are you there? Remember:
“70% of Form Six students in Mara Region come from the Lake Zone.”
Have a nice day.
