Adeladius Makwega – MBAGALA
“Father, at college we are holding student leadership elections… I would like to run for the position of Vice President of the student body here at DIDES. The application form costs 10,000 shillings, and I would really like to contest… I kindly ask for your permission to run for this position…”
These are the words of Mwanaisha Yusufu, daughter of Singano, in the final days of March 2026. She is a student pursuing a certificate in Community Development at the Dodoma Institute of Development and Entrepreneurship Studies (DIDES), communicating with her parents about student elections at her college.
Her parents granted her permission to contest, and she went on to win the election by a landslide at this institution, which is registered with NACTVET and holds accredited status.
In the excitement of her victory, Mwanaisha informed her parents:
“I have won the election, and now I have taken the oath. I have the responsibility of leading my fellow students here at DIDES Dodoma…”
Her parents congratulated her and wished her all the best in her new role.
The institution is registered to provide technical education at Certificate and Ordinary Diploma levels in the fields of Community Development and Agricultural Production. It also offers short courses and seminars for government officials as well as employees from both the private and public sectors to enhance their work efficiency. Additionally, the institution has a vision of offering degree programs in the future.
It is a common practice in Tanzania for students to elect their leaders in colleges and universities as a way of learning leadership from a young age.
Mwanakwetu publications congratulate Ms. Mwanaisha Binti Singano for winning this position at the college level.
Mwanakwetu, Are you there? Remember:
“Father, I request permission to run for leadership.”
Wishing you a nice day.
