Adeladius Makwega – Musoma, MARA
It was in the morning hours, approaching midday on February 26, 2026. Here at the Office of the Regional Commissioner of Mara, where the Acting Regional Administrative Secretary of Mara Region—who is also the Administrative and Human Resources Officer, Mr. Domicus Lusasi—received a delegation from the Open University of Tanzania (OUT).
The delegation was led by the head of the university’s Musoma branch, Dr. Anna Kyamba:
“On behalf of the Vice Chancellor of the Open University of Tanzania (OUT), we have come to introduce to you our visitors from Ludwig Maximilian University in Germany. The Open University of Tanzania has academic exchange programs involving knowledge and professional expertise, and these two colleagues are among the experts from there who have recently arrived in Tanzania for these programs.”
For his part, the Acting Regional Administrative Secretary of Mara Region, Mr. Lusasi, warmly welcomed the two experts, Anna Sophewornznofr and Analina Etemi:
“Your first names are easy, but your surname Sophewornznofr is difficult for me—I will need you to teach me German so that I can pronounce it properly… and I will teach you Swahili…”
Mr. Lusasi said jokingly in his office. He added that they are most welcome to Tanzania, especially to Mara Region, inviting them to learn about the local culture, cuisine, and many other aspects of life there.
“The Government of Mara Region recognizes the significant contribution of the Open University of Tanzania to both the nation and Mara Region. And since Ludwig University is a friend of the Open University of Tanzania, then Ms. Anna and Ms. Analina are also friends of Mara Region. You are most welcome to Mara.”
Earlier, these visitors from the Open University were received by Dr. Elpidius Baganda, the Regional Education Officer for Mara.
After these brief discussions in the office, the delegation had an opportunity to take several group photos together with the Regional Administrative Secretary of Mara Region.
