TANZANIA’S DEPUTY MINISTER PRAISES THE PRESENCE OF AN MP AT A MEETING

Adeladius Makwega – MARA

It was Monday morning, January 5, 2026, when the Regional Commissioner of Mara, Hon. Colonel Evans Alfred Mtambi, received Tanzania’s Deputy Minister for Water, Hendry Kundo.

The Deputy Minister was accompanied by a group of nearly two dozen experts.

“The water situation in Mara Region is good, and the Government is implementing several water projects at all levels. I work well with your water experts at all levels, and whenever they face challenges, we resolve them in a timely manner. I recall that before the General Election, the Permanent Secretary of your ministry also visited me here and toured the projects,” said the Regional Commissioner as he concluded his remarks.

He added that residents of Mara Region recognize the Government’s contribution to improving the water sector from the village, ward, division, district, and regional levels.

Speaking after the welcoming remarks, Deputy Minister Kundo said that the Government is actively addressing water challenges across the country. He noted that Mara Region is among the areas with numerous projects, assured that contractors will be paid on time, and urged water users to pay their bills promptly.

“It is not a good thing to disconnect water for a member of the Regional Security and Safety Committee; everyone must fulfill their responsibilities. I commend Mbozi District in Songwe Region for ensuring that water meters are installed for citizens all the way to the village level. This helps increase government revenue collection and creates opportunities to provide services to more new customers.”

The Deputy Minister also congratulated the Member of Parliament for Musoma Urban, Hon. Mgore Kigera Miraji, for being present on the tour, while touching on the local political context:

“I have been a Deputy Minister for some time. I have visited Musoma Urban several times, but I had never had the chance to see the MP for Musoma Urban. Today, Hon. Mgore is here. Congratulations. This carries great meaning for me in bringing development to the people of this area.”

As the Deputy Minister said this, Mwanakwetu fixed his gaze on the MP for Musoma Urban and observed that Hon. Mgore smiled and clasped his hands, while his phone rested on his thigh—clearly showing that she received the congratulations warmly.

Hon. Mgore indeed looked impressive; Mwanakwetu’s eyes did not deceive him. she was wearing glasses, a green blouse, and elegant black trousers.

This was the visit of the Deputy Minister for Water in Mara Region. His tour took place as clouds covered a large part of Musoma Town. The temperature was 25°C, humidity 40 percent, chance of rain 68 percent, and wind speed 6 km per hour.

What does Mwanakwetu say?

According to Mwanakwetu’s research:

“The availability of water in Musoma Town is good. During the time the author of this feature has been here—from October 2024 to January 5, 2026—he has never witnessed tap water being cut off. A resident of this area can live without water storage containers, because whenever one opens the tap, water is available.”

Mwanakwetu wished that the Deputy Minister for Water had addressed the issue of rainwater harvesting, but this did not happen at all. Mwanakwetu urges the Ministry of Water to also remember to encourage citizens to harvest rainwater, as this would serve as an alternative when water supply is interrupted. Water authorities are also urged to provide education on rainwater harvesting.

Mwanakwetu, are you there? Remember:

I wish you a good day.
