FAREWELL CPA SHAABAN NDALU

Adeladius Makwega – Musoma, Mara

“Boss, so you’re around? This morning I saw your car coming in and I said to myself, ‘So my boss has come back from leave?’ Boss, so you’re here! You’re fortunate—you went on leave, God granted it, you went home and returned safely. But our colleague CPA Shaaban Ndalu went on leave and did not return; he went on leave and passed away…”

These are the words of two employees from the Office of the Regional Commissioner of Mara, Maisha Mwanisegele and Mwalimu Kinyemi Sepeku, as they spoke about the death of their colleague CPA Shaaban C. Ndalu, the Principle Accountant of the Office of the Regional Commissioner of Mara, who passed away at the end of January 2026.

When Mwanakwetu heard these remarks, he set out for the desk of the late Shaaban Ndalu, located in Room F14, Accounts Department, second floor of the Regional Commissioner’s Office building in Mara.

“There, Mwanakwetu was welcomed by a desk and a chair made of Mvule wood. The chair was pushed tightly against the desk, showing that the owner of this office furniture is not present at work, while the government documents indicate that he is on leave.

The chair, desk, computer, and documents on the desk do not know that CPA Shaaban Ndalu has passed away in the city of Dodoma.

Mwanakwetu felt the urge to proclaim aloud, ‘Peace be upon you, furniture of this room. With weakness, gentleness, and humility, I have come to inform you that your colleague CPA Shaaban Ndalu—his body has separated from his soul in Dodoma.’”

These words, spoken by Mwanakwetu while in Room F14, were uttered quietly—inwardly, in the heart. He then took photos of the furniture and left.

While still on the second floor, Mwanakwetu met Hashimu Ujonjo, an accountant in the office, who said that while CPA Shaaban Ndalu was alive, his major responsibility was examining payment documents before any payment was made:

“Here our brother would check—if we are paying employee XXZ amount XCCCCD shillings, do these payments have all the necessary supporting documents to justify them?”

This responsibility helped ensure that financial resources were used properly and that the institution reduced audit queries, whether from internal or external audits, concluded Mr. Ujonjo.

Mwanakwetu then went to the office of the Assistant Administrative Secretary in charge of Administration and Human Resources, Mr. Dominicus Lusasi, at the Office of the Regional Commissioner of Mara, who said the following:

“It is true that we have received this bereavement, where CPA Shaaban Ndalu passed away on the night of January 30, 2026, in Dodoma. His records in our files show that he was born on July 11, 1975, at Chibelela, Bahi District, Dodoma Region. He studied at Chibelela Primary School (1984–1990), then passed and joined Azania Secondary School (1991–1994), and later joined Mazengo Secondary School (1995–1997). He then pursued a Certificate in Accounting at the Institute of Finance Management (IFM) from 2001 to 2004. In 2005–2006 he studied for an Advanced Diploma in Accounting and Finance, and in 2007 he obtained the Initial Certificate in Public Accounting (CPA).”

Mr. Lusasi said that CPA Shaaban Ndalu was a Christian and is survived by a widow and three children: Doreen Ndalu, Hilda Ndalu, and Shedrack Ndalu. Burial arrangements are being conducted in Dodoma Region, in close cooperation between the family of the deceased and their office.

What does Mwanakwetu say today?

Mwanakwetu offers condolences to the family and to the employees of the Office of the Regional Commissioner of Mara for the loss of their brother and colleague. Mwanakwetu knew CPA Shaaban Ndalu well and recalls this question:

“Brother, why haven’t I received my transfer allowance yet…?”

CPA Shaaban Ndalu’s response was:

“Here at my desk I am reviewing it. I haven’t seen several of your documents, including your children’s certificates. Make sure that for every payment you expect to receive, you submit the relevant supporting documents…”

The Lord has given, the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord. Amen.

Mwanakwetu, are you there? Remember:

“Farewell CPA SHAABAN NDALU.”
